Breaking News
Will F. Eagle Project Part 3
8/10
Will needs your help with his Eagle Project repainting the playground maps at the final Gahanna Elementary school. The group will be working from 8 am to noon. Please make sure you bring clothes that can get dirty and a water bottle. Part 3 of the project will be at Royal Manor. This service opportunity is Scoutmaster approved and can be used for rank advancements.

Senior Patrol Positions
8/12
Our new SPL wanted to make sure all First-Class Scouts have a chance to submit a letter to join the Senior Patrol. Therefore, the turn in date for any remaining letters is now the 8/12 Troop Meeting. If you are interested in helping Nathan by serving in a position of responsibility in the Senior Patrol (Quartermaster, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Chaplain Aide, Historian) please type a letter (1/2 to 1 page) telling Nathan what position you are interested in and how you would serve the Troop in that position. Completed letters should be turned into the Senior Patrol Leader.

August Board of Review
8/13
If you are ready for your next rank advancement you should plan to attend the monthly Board of Review. This will be in the basement at Stonybrook at 7:30pm. Please RSVP for this event on Team App so we can plan to have an appropriate number of committee members present.

Safe Sanctuary Training
8/15
Mark your calendar, Thursday, Aug. 15, at 6:00 pm is the annual required safe sanctuary training put on by the Stonybrook staff for all scout leaders. Other topics being covered will be building procedures and the new building security system.

Reminders
Christian H. Eagle Project
8/17 & 8/18
Christian’s Eagle project will be to build a prayer labyrinth at Stonybrook Church. Volunteers are needed Saturday, August 17 from 8:00 am-4:00 pm (lunch provided) and Sunday, August 18 from 12:00-4:00 pm. Please bring work gloves, a rake and shovel if you have them.
The labyrinth is being built off the side parking lot close to the new walking path.

Columbus Zoo Scavenger Hunt
8/24
The Scouts will be completing a Scavenger Hunt at the Columbus Zoo in August. Each Patrol will be given a list of facts to find and sent out to find and document the facts from all over the Zoo.

We will meet at Stonybrook Church at 9:30 so that we can carpool Scouts up to the Zoo. The hunt will run from when we arrive until 5pm. The fee for admission is $15 per person and needs to be turned into the Troop by the 8/19 Troop meeting. Scouts should wear their Troop 98 T-Shirt and Class B uniform to the event.
Please let us know (by RSVP on Team App) if you will be attending, and if you will be using your Zoo membership instead of paying with the group.

Gettysburg Deposit Payments

Sign up now for the weekend your Scout will be talking about for years to come. This will be a unique experience where adventure and learning come together to make memories that will last a lifetime. Right now, we are taking deposit payments of $65 to reserve your spot on the trip. We will be taking deposits until we fill the 35 available spots in the campsite. An activity fee will also be collected once the Scouts decide on a schedule.

South Bass Island Camporee
9/6 – 9/8
Registration for the event is over.
The Scouts will need to bring only their personal camping gear and the Troop tents. They should also make sure to pack their Class A uniform. No other Troop equipment will be required.

There is an opportunity to purchase extra snacks or souvenirs on the island so the Scouts should be prepared if they wish. We will be meeting at the Church at 6pm and will leave at 7pm. If everyone has arrived, we will leave before 7pm so please try to arrive as early as possible. We are planning to return to the church around 3 pm and will send out updates when we are on the road back to the church.

Troop 98 for Girls
Troop 98 is starting a linked Troop for Girls. They are currently having weekly meetings in Room 121 at the Church on Monday nights at 7pm. Come on down any Monday and see what we are doing. If you have any questions, please contact the Troop by email or through Team App.
